Nine accounts renew inside 30 days and three of them are the ones to worry about. Their ticket volume is up while usage is falling, which is the pattern that preceded every churn last quarter.

The phone system without the phones

A small business phone system used to be desk phones, a PBX and a receptionist. The VoIP vendors replaced the PBX and kept the rest. Daciel replaces the rest: the number is bought inside the product, an agent answers in your name, your rules decide who gets transferred and when, your people take calls on the phones they already carry, and every call lands on the customer's record with the transcript.

Acme wants a renewal quote. Their contract is up in three weeks.

Ticket volume has climbed every month this quarter. Read that before we price it.

So someone pulls usage, open tickets and the last two invoices. Three systems.

And most of an afternoon. Hand it over and hold the send until one of us reads it.

Two things it does on day one

What a small business phone system is now

The search is held by VoIP vendors and resellers: RingCentral, Nextiva, Ooma, Dialpad, Grasshopper, ranked by getvoip and technologyadvice. What they sell is the PBX in the cloud: numbers, extensions, ring groups, voicemail, an app for the mobile, priced per user per month, and lately an AI receptionist as an add-on.

How the phone system works

01

Buy or port the number

Inside the product. Keep your existing number by porting or forwarding it.

02

Write the brief

What you do, hours, prices you allow, the questions that go to a person, who is on call.

03

Set the routing

By caller, by reason, by hour. Known customers reach their owner; emergencies reach the on-call phone.

04

Calls are answered

In your name, from the record. Booked, messaged or transferred live with the summary ahead.

05

Everything is filed

Transcript, summary and outcome on the customer, visible to whoever picks up next.

Small business phone systems, compared

How permissions work

Questions people ask before buying

Do I need desk phones?

No. Your people take transferred calls on the mobiles they already carry, or in the browser. If you want desk phones, this is not that product.

Can I keep my number?

Yes. Port it into Daciel or forward it on busy, after hours or always.

How many numbers and users?

As many numbers as you buy; users are not counted. The Operate plan includes 500 voice minutes a month with a published overage rate.

Can a person answer instead of the AI?

Yes. Route by hour or by caller so the agent answers only when nobody is free, or only after hours.

What does it cost?

Numbers are bought inside the product at cost. Contact Daciel for business plan availability and pricing.
