Nine accounts renew inside 30 days and three of them are the ones to worry about. Their ticket volume is up while usage is falling, which is the pattern that preceded every churn last quarter.

The phone rings; the record is already open

The receptionist recognises the number, reads the caller's bookings, orders or invoices, and answers from them. A new caller becomes a lead. Either way the transcript, the summary and the follow-up are filed before you look.

Acme wants a renewal quote. Their contract is up in three weeks.

Ticket volume has climbed every month this quarter. Read that before we price it.

Two calls it takes on day one

What is an AI receptionist?

An AI receptionist is software that answers a business's phone line with a natural voice, works from a brief about the business, and does the things a front-desk receptionist does on a call: greets the caller, answers routine questions, books appointments, takes messages and transfers calls to a person. It differs from a phone tree in that the caller speaks normally, and from a human answering service in that it is priced as software rather than per call.

How an AI receptionist works

01

A number is provisioned or forwarded

Daciel buys a local or toll-free number and holds it on your account. Forward your existing line to it, or port the number in.

02

The caller is recognised

The number is matched against your customers and leads. A known caller's bookings, orders and invoices are read before the greeting ends.

03

It works from the brief

Hours, locations, services, what it may quote, and which questions go to a person. It never answers outside the brief; it takes a message instead.

04

It books, takes a message, or transfers

Real slots from the connected calendar. Messages with need and urgency. Live transfer to a named person on request or on a rule.

05

The call is filed

Transcript, summary and follow-up on the record, visible to Support, Sales and Finance. Minutes are metered against the plan.

Six ways to get one, compared

Ranked by how much you have to build or buy elsewhere. The middle column is the one to read: what happens to the call after it ends.

How permissions work

Questions people ask before buying

Does the AI receptionist use my existing phone number?

Either. Daciel buys a new number for you on signup, and you can forward your existing line to it or port the number in. The number is held on your account inside Daciel.

What happens when a caller asks something it cannot answer?

It says so and either takes a message or transfers to the person you named for that kind of question. The unanswered question is written into the call summary so you can add it to the brief.

Can it book appointments?

Yes, into a calendar you connect such as Google Calendar or Calendly. It offers slots that are actually free, books one, and the confirmation goes out through your own connected tools.

How much does an AI receptionist cost?

Telephony vendors bundle one into a phone plan; developer platforms charge per minute plus model costs; live services charge per call. Contact Daciel for business plan availability and pricing.

Where do the calls go afterwards?

Into the Calls ledger, filed against the customer or lead, with the transcript, a summary and any follow-up task. A call about an unpaid invoice appears where Finance works.
